Discover a New Way Home

Free Mortgage Information Evening for First-Time Buyers, Home Movers and Mortgage Switchers

Whether you are hoping to buy your first home, planning to move to a new property or wondering if switching your mortgage could save you money, join us for a relaxed and practical information evening.

Palmerstown Credit Union is bringing together local mortgage, property, legal and financial experts to explain each stage of the process and answer the questions people are sometimes afraid to ask.

Venue: Palmerstown Community & Youth Centre
Admission: Free, but advance registration is required

What will the evening cover?

The event is designed to clear up common mortgage misunderstandings and help you understand what to expect before taking your next step.

Topics will include:

  • How much you may be able to borrow

  • Preparing for a mortgage application

  • Approval in Principle and supporting documents

  • Selling your current home and purchasing another

  • Property valuations, viewings, bidding and offers

  • Switching your mortgage while remaining in your current home

  • Contracts, conveyancing, legal costs and timelines

  • Mortgage protection and when to arrange it

  • Common issues that can delay the process

Meet the panel

Jennifer Fitzgerald — MSDAC

Mortgage Applications and Switching

Jennifer will explain how the mortgage process works, including borrowing capacity, Approval in Principle, supporting documents and what is involved when moving home or switching your mortgage.

Karen — Sherry FitzGerald

Buying, Selling and the Local Property Market

Karen will offer practical guidance on preparing a property for sale, valuations, viewings, bidding and what happens after a property goes sale agreed.

Jessica Hickey — Hibernian Law Solicitors

Conveyancing, Contracts and Costs

Jessica will make the legal side easier to understand, covering contracts, conveyancing, expected costs, timelines and common causes of delay.

John Miller — Financial Adviser

Mortgage Protection Made Simple

John will explain what mortgage protection is, why lenders normally require it, when to arrange cover and some of the most common questions applicants have.

Our local team will explain how to get mortgage ready, the support available throughout the process and how to arrange a free mortgage consultation.

There will be plenty of time for a live question-and-answer session with all panellists.

You can also submit a question anonymously when registering. No question is too small, and we will aim to address as many as possible during the evening.
