Your New Visa Debit Card is Coming Soon

Your new Visa Debit card is on the way. Learn what to expect, important dates and the simple steps you'll need to take when your new card arrives.

What's Happening?

From 20th July, Palmerstown Credit Union is upgrading all Current Account Debit Cards from Mastercard to Visa.

As part of this change, you'll automatically receive a new Visa Debit card through the post. There's no need to apply for a new card, we'll take care of everything.

Your new Visa Debit card offers enhanced security, worldwide acceptance and the trusted benefits of Visa, while continuing to provide the everyday convenience you expect.

What Happens Next?

20th July
Your new Visa Debit card will be ordered.

Within 5–10 working days
Your new card will arrive by post with everything you need to retrieve your new PIN and activate your card.

Throughout the changeover
We'll keep you updated with a series of SMS messages and emails, guiding you through each stage of the process. These communications are genuine and are part of your move to your new Visa Debit card.

What You Need To Do

When your new Visa Debit card arrives:

  • Activate your new Visa Debit card.
  • Retrieve your new PIN by following the instructions provided.
  • Update any subscriptions or recurring payments linked to your current debit card (such as Netflix, Spotify, Amazon or your gym membership).
  • Add your new Visa Debit card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet if you use digital payments.
  • Once your new Visa Debit card is activated, safely destroy your old Mastercard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my debit card changing?

We're upgrading all Current Account Debit Cards from Mastercard to Visa to provide enhanced security, worldwide acceptance and the trusted benefits of Visa.

Do I need to apply for a new card?

No. Your new Visa Debit card will be sent to you automatically.

When will I receive my new card?

Your card will be ordered from 20th July and should arrive within 5–10 working days.

Do I need to activate my new Visa Debit card?

Yes. Your new Visa Debit card must be activated before you can use it. Your existing Mastercard will stop working on 18th August, so please activate your new card before this date to avoid any interruption to your service.

Will I get a new PIN?

Yes. Your card pack will include instructions on how to retrieve your new PIN.

What happens to my subscriptions?

If you have subscriptions or recurring payments linked to your current debit card, you'll need to update them with your new Visa Debit card details once your new card has been activated.

How will Palmerstown Credit Union contact me?

We'll send you updates by SMS and email throughout the migration to keep you informed at each stage.

How do I know the messages are genuine?

We'll never ask you by email or SMS for your PIN, password or full card details. If you're ever unsure about a communication you've received, please contact us directly on (01) 693 3333.

If you have another other queries or if you need support with this transition, we will be holding in person clinics in our office on the week of the 27th of July where our staff can help you.
